by Tracey 6/30/2008 10:45:00 AM

Bill ran in a local 5k on Saturday and placed 1st in his age group and 4th over all - beating out a lot of high school kids!  WAY TO GO BILL!

He ran a 5:14 for the first mile!  Super Fast for a 37 year old :)

Milestone!

by Tracey 6/29/2008 10:40:00 PM

This week we gave Parker a tiny bit of Oatmeal cereal mixed with some formula.  He did the usual oozing it out his mouth and i would scrape it up with the spoon and then he would sneeze and spray it all over me, and we'd start all over again with another tiny spoonful.  It didn't take long for him to get the hang of it - and he actually ate quite a bit of it at each sitting.  I did the oatmeal cereal instead of rice cereal because some friends of ours said that the rice cereal made their daughter constipated and since Parker has enough problems with pooping i decided to go with the oatmeal cereal.  At least it has some fiber in it.

Today i mixed it up with a little bit of applesauce and HE ATE IT UP!  He loved it!  He ate the whole little bowlful that i made for him.  And he didn't do much of the oozing out of his mouth.  We are still having a hard time getting him to open his mouth so i can give him the bites but he loves it when i can get it in his mouth.

i'm surprised at how well he's doing.  I feel like he's ahead of his age - as far as physical milestones.  He's been holding his head up for weeks now.  He can almost sit up on his own.  I put him in the suacer and he spun around 360 degrees on his own!  He's been reaching out and grabbing for his toys for a few weeks.  I guess i feel like he's advanced but all i really have for comparison is Stewart.  I took so many picutures of Stewart that i can remember his milestones from looking at the pictures.

it's late.  I have to go to bed because i have to get up for work tomorrow!!!

BTW: he's been a really happy baby this weekend.  We can get him to smile and laugh - he seems much happier.  Still a bit gassy but not as fussy.

Don't Mess with . . .

by Tracey 6/29/2008 10:36:00 PM

. . . a movie sooo bad it causes a nap!

Friday night we watched Don't Mess with the Zohan.  Or i should say Bill watched it.  I only caught parts of it before and after my nap.  It was an awful Adam Sandler movie.  AWFUL.  I'm partial to Happy Gilmore and Spanglish - or even Big Daddy.  This movie was stupid.  I think Bill thought it had some funny/ridiculous scenes.  I feel like I've moved on from his comedy.  I can't even really give you a plot summary since i napped through most of it.  I wouldn't waste your money on a ticket though.  I would wait for it to come out on TBS or watch it at www.watch-movies.net (like we did.)

the Happening

by Tracey 6/29/2008 10:26:00 PM

We watched this last night.  I'm not quite sure what to say about it.  His movies are never believable - they are somewhat fantasy.  This movie wasn't any different.  If you don't wanna know about the movie, then don't read this because i'll probably give away the story.

Let me first say that Mark Walberg (or however you spell it) was good.  Zooey Deschanel wasn't good.  Kinda obnoxious.  She's the go to girl for closeups on a girl with big puppy dog eyes - her acting, not so much.

it was a scary movie.  I'm not sure what made it so scary, I think it was just that the "thing" that was killing everyone couldn't be seen yet you knew it was coming.  You know it was right on the heels of the main characters.  (This movie would have been bad for Stewart to see since he is scared of the wind as it is.)  So when the movie ends, you never really know what it was - everyone has their own assumptions but what was clear to me is that this was another stupid story about being eco-friendly.  When everyone started speculating that the  the plants were releasing toxins as a defense mechanism - i think i rolled my eyes so hard they rolled out of my head and off the bed and onto the floor - we all know the on top of spaghetti song.

Stupid Al Gore and his stupid shoving it down your throat to take care of the planet.  I'm not saying that i don't think pollution is a problem blah blah blah - i'm just saying that I don't need it force fed to me while i'm trying to relax and watch a movie - FOR ENTERTAINMENT.  Happy Feet had an eco-friendly message that was annoying.  This movie, in my opinion, had an annoying eco-friendly theme, WallE, Independence day, . . . I just want to watch a movie.

Weekend

by Tracey 6/29/2008 10:08:00 PM

We didn't have much planned for this weekend.  We only had one thing - we were going to go to the Fourth of July celebration at Sam Michaels Park.  They were doing waterslides, a big moon bounce, a bunch of stuff for kids and then at 9pm they were going to shoot off fireworks.  So around 6:30 we start getting stuff together (cause it takes a lot longer to get everything ready with a newborn!)  And just as we were going to walk out to the dark, it got really dark outside and we checked the weather.  Big storm coming.  :(  It got really windy and rainy like 10 min after we were going to leave.  So it's good we didn't leave but then i felt bad because we'd been telling Stewart all week we were going to go and then we didnt go!  But at least he's old enough to understand that we didn't go because of the weather.  It rained for a while - it rained until about 9:15 so i just assumed they would reschedule the fireworks (i was hoping they were going to do it tonight) and then around 9:45 we started to hear the unmistakable boom boom boom of fireworks.  And i could see them out of my bathroom window.  So this makes the second cool thing that i've seen from the windows in my bathroom (late last year i saw a lunar eclipse while i was taking a bubble bath!)

Today I got Stewart a couple of goldfish to put in his fish bowl.  Oh - and a snail.  They were $.28.  He's been really good and i wanted to get him a toy but these fish and the snail were sooo cheap.  He picked out a really orange one and then a white one with a red spot on his head.  And we got home, i let them sit in the bag for a while and then i dumped them in the bowl.  And like an hour later, they were both dead (the snail is fine.)  At first Stewart thought it was just the orange one because he was floating on top - and then i told him the white one was also dead and he got soooo upset.  I think he cried for 15 minutes.  I felt so bad for him.  he didn't cry or get upset when we got rid of Yoshi - but this stupid white goldfish that we had for 60 minutes made him really upset.

Trying to cheer him up - i set up his slip and slide again, like we did last week at the bottom of the slide, and we got everything together, Bill took Parker down and as soon as i went outside it started raining.  GEEZ!  And then it thundered really loud - and we had to get everything together and go back inside.

I could tell that we spent a lot of this weekend cleaning.  Unlike when i was home, i made it a point to do most of the laundry and cleaning during the week.  If i could just make myself do a load of laundry in the evening. . . pipe dream.  It will never happen.  Well maybe not.  I do have quite a bit of time before between when i get home and when Bill gets home.  That's enough to get a load of laundry started.  I'll add that to my list of things that I have to do in the evening.  I have to get Parker's bottles ready for the next day.  Get their clothes set out.  Get my clothes set out.  Give them a bath if it's bath day . . .eh.

Caffeine

by Tracey 6/26/2008 4:10:00 PM

I think i have a ridiculous caffeine sensitivity.  I don't know ANYONE whose body reacts to caffeine the way mine does - maybe because i have never drank a lot of things that contained caffeine?  Every once in a while I like an iced mocha and a good sweet iced tea (especially in the summer.)  While I was pregnant I quit all caffeinated beverages because caffeine is supposed to be bad for the baby.  And now - my body trips out on caffeine - like its on crack or something.  Like back in the day when metabolife had some weird jacked up herbal thing in it that made your heart all jittery and fast.  All i had was an iced mocha - THIS MORNING AT 8AM.  It's almost 4:30PM and I still feel the effects.  This is ridiculous.  As an adult, I think I've earned the right to have some kind of caffeinated something.  Freakin everyone drinks coffee, thanks to Starbucks.  And my stupid body can't even handle tea.

I need some kind of pill that will decaf my body.  I'm gonna be up all night!

For the record . . .

by Tracey 6/24/2008 8:52:00 PM

I busted my ass mowing the lawn because the forecast showed rain for the whole weekend.

IT DID NOT RAIN.

Not even a few drops.
