My Handsome Boys

"Smile for the camera, Parker!"

Mr Rob helping daddy install the new lights on the house.  (This is them taking off the old light.)

I got some weird light up in the corner, I'm not sure where that came from.  But just for Grammy and Papa - a picture of me and Parker!

A Day In the Life of ME!

by Tracey 1/23/2009 12:09:00 PM

This is how my day went yesterday - You'll feel tired by the time I get to 8:30pm.

5:30am - woke up and went to the gym.  35 min cardio on the elliptical and 25 min weights and resistance training (super fun time!)

7:00am - got in the shower.  Realized Parker wasn't as fresh as he could be, so I brought him in the shower with me.  We got dressed and pretty.  Got Stewart dressed and pretty.

7:50am - Dropped Stewart off at daycare so he could catch the bus in 15 min to his elementary school.

8:15am - fed Parker breakfast.  Fed myself breakfast.  Both were halted when Mr. I-Like-to-inhale-my-food spit up all over himself.  all over his clothes, the high chair try, down the inside of his shirt.  Before I had time to react, he decided to use the spit up breakfast as fingerpaint.

8:20am - Parker got his second bath - in the kitchen sink this time.  I cleaned up the mess, threw everything in the washer and changed my own shirt.

9:30am - Decided to go to Walmart before his Dr appt to pick up some groceries we needed.  Walked around, picked up some stuff, felt uninspired and left without getting everything on my list.

10:00am - Check in at the Dr's office for our 10:30 appt.  Luckily Parker was asleep so he slept in my arms for about 20 minutes.  When he woke up we played, he ate some cheerios (SLOWLY) and he toddled around the waiting room.

10:30am - Still waiting

10:45am - Still waiting

10:50am - went to the exam room.  Got Parker's vitals. Waited some more. Fed more cheerios, tried to keep him warm cause he was stripped down to his diaper.

11:15am - In walks Dr. Cucuzella. He's a big time runner.  He is so much of a runner that he writes articles about stuff and research about running and has them published.  So we had to talk about running and Bill for a bit.  He checked out Parker - said everything looks great.  Spent 10 minutes checking his eyes to see if he was cross-eyed.

11:45am - Waiting for a nurse to come in and give him a flu shot.  Poor baby.  Parker was getting tired and fussy and hungry and then we had to go and stab him in the leg.  Its a tough life.

12:05pm - dropped off Parker at daycare and had to talk to his teacher about food.

12:20pm - FINALLY got to work.  My days at work are busy.

5:15pm - left work to go pick up the boys.

6:00pm - got home.  Parker was asleep, so I left him in his car seat while I cooked Stewart's dinner and started some laundry.  Just as I started to think I might get to eat dinner, Stewart woke up Parker.  It ended up ok.  Parker likes to eat soup so we shared my bowl of soup.

7:00pm - got Stewart in the shower, changed Parker into his pajamas.  Played around and watched some iCarly.

8:15pm - put Stewart to bed.  I gave him a good mommy-style tuck-in and he went right to sleep.  Parker was a different story.  He was tired and fussy but refusing to go to sleep.  He didn't want his bottle, he didn't want to lay down with me.  He just wanted to stand in his crib and scream.  So i let him.

8:25pm - Stood next to the crib and told Parker it was ok and I was right here.  Dr Cucuzella said we should stand next to the crib and talk to him and let him know it's bedtime and that he isn't alone.  I don't think Parker could hear me through his own screaming.  It was really hard not to pick him up.

9:00pm - Grey's Anatomy - and Parker had fallen asleep - so it was all quiet!  Time for some mommy time.

9:50pm - Parker woke up screaming mad.  Following Dr. Cucuzella's instructions, i went in and talked to him.  It didn't really work.  He cried for another 30 minutes.

11:35pm - I don't know when Bill got home but I woke up and he was holding Parker in our bed.  In his defense, I didn't specificly tell him the rules of teaching babies to sleep.  So all of the crying i listened to and delt with was all for nothing.  I guess we will start over today.

Yesterday was a very long day.

HE IS NOT CROSS-EYED!

by Tracey 1/23/2009 11:55:00 AM

Parker had his 9 month check up yesterday (almost a month late!)  First - he's not cross-eyed.  I asked the Dr (at the urging of Grammy) and he said that he would be concerned if both of his eyes weren't tracking objects from left to right.  His eyes are working just fine and he doesn't think he is cross-eyed.

Parker is a small baby - which surprises me.  He always seems like such a chunker when I carry him around.  He weighed 17 pounds and 4 ounces and was 28 inches long.  His weight placed him in the 10th percentile, and his weight only put him in the 20th.  He is a boy and I don't want him to be petite, or short, or short and stalky, or anything that will cause the kids to make fun of him as he grows up.  I'm 30 and I still get short jokes - on a daily basis from my co-workers.  I think it must be much more frustrating to be a short man!  I will feel soo terrible if Parker grows up and is short.

Other than his small size - he is very healthy.  He is quite the over-acheiver when it comes to the generic baby milestones.  He says Mama and Dada, he has started waving good bye.  He still isn't walking on his own yet - but he can stand, unsupported for about 5 seconds before he sits down.  And he has 4 teeth!  The dr said he doesn't really need to formula feedings in the night and that we should start "teaching" him to go back to sleep on his own - because he is using the bottle for comfort.  He said it takes about a week and then he should be sleeping on his own.  Jeez.  Wouldn't it be some kind of miracle if we could get this one sleeping on his own, in his OWN bed, by his first birthday!  He is such a snuggler.  I think I would miss him!

Parker is starting to eat regular people food.  He really likes yogurt and all things mushy: mashed potatoes, soup, mushed up beans, etc.  He loves noodles - just like his brother.

Super Sick

by Tracey 1/21/2009 5:05:00 PM

I was super sick on Monday.  It started sometime when I was sleeping - I remember waking up and my whole entire body hurt and I was hot.  I said to Bill, "I think I'm sick."  He said, "Why?" and I told him my whole body hurt and he mumbled something and we went back to sleep.

I got up at 4:45am to go to the gym.  I thought if I got up and got my metabolism going, I might feel better.  But I almost threw up (TWICE) while I was on the elliptical so I thought I should probably call it a day.  I went back to bed.

I slept until 7:30.  Parker is such a snuggler!  And Stewart is really good about getting up and playing in his play room if we are still asleep.  But I got up and I got around and got the kids to school.  All the while, my body hurts.  All of it.  Every joint and musle was sore.  And I had a fever, 100.0 and I was very very nauseated.  I felt like I had just got off the merry go round and I was dizzy and pukey and I had a headache.  And that didn't go away.  All morning.  I toughed it out at work until noon - but I just couldn't stay anymore.  I went home.  Took one of Bill's anti-nausea pills and I slept.  Hard.  I woke up at 4:30 and I had no idea why it was 4:30, I had slept sooooo good!  I pretty much slept all night off and on.  Bill was so great.  He picked up the kids (and that required two trips) and he fed them and entertained them.  And I rested and then I slept all night.  Around 3:30am I woke up and I could tell I was feeling much better.

I'm about 90% today and I'm soo glad I'm not nauseated anymore.  I never actually threw up but i felt so gross.  Apparently this bug went around my office before Christmas.  I guess I'm all caught up now.

Babylon AD, Pineapple Express, Apaloosa

by Tracey 1/19/2009 10:35:00 PM

We rented these movies this weekend - all crap.

Babylon AD is visually pleasing and Bill said it sounded great on the surround sound - but the story sucked.

Pineapple Express - really stupid.  It is way too much about smoking pot - and since I've never smoked pot, or even a cigarette - I don't find this kind of comedy funny.  Judd Apatow and Seth Rogan have made some funny movies - but this isn't one of them.  Skip Pineapple Express, and go watch Superbad again.

Apaloosa - dumb cowboy movie.  Even Bill said it wasn't that good.  Save your $1 and skip this.  I fell asleep.

Movie Reviews

Gran Tourino

by Tracey 1/19/2009 10:28:00 PM

Clint Eastwood doesn't make a bad movie - unless it's a lame cowboy movie!  Bill and i went out to lunch and to a movie today.  Yay!  A DATE!  I must admit I wasn't very excited about seeing the movie but it's a really good movie.  Clint is a really grouchy old man who grunts.  A lot.  (This is the guy that Bill will become if I happen to die first.)  The previews always show him growling "GET OFF MY LAWN" while holding some kind of gun.  I thought the line was a little played out - it was said a lot in Monster House (cartoon.)

The movie was good.  i liked it.  It was a bit predictable but it was funny.  Really funny - despite not being a comedy.  The movie is very much a drama yet it is still a funny.  I haven't heard so many racial slurs (Asian ones) - well - never.  I've never heard that much ever - not even on the Chappelle's show.

I know my dad would really like the movie and I think my mom might too.  She'll probably think the sister reminds her of me (or Kristin) - she is really smart, and funny, and cute.

I won't comment on the ending but I thought it was predictable.  Actually - the first time I saw the preview, i predicted the whole story - and I was pretty close.
