Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone!  I don’t know if this year can be any better than last year – 2008 brought us Parker. 2009 better step up!

I had to work most of the days surrounding the holiday.  I also still had school (a downside to online school.)  So I needed a break from something – I had to work, I had school, kids, house – the blog was the victim.

We had a great – really quiet Christmas (of course pictures will soon follow!)  I asked Stewart if he thought Santa and his reindeer would enjoy a tray of fruit and veggies – he said, “NO!”  So we made Santa some sugar cookies and laid them out on the fireplace.  Stewart wanted to put them on his new “snuggly” penguin plate with a little cup of “cookie milk” (egg nog.)  Stewart listened very intently as he heard the story of Daddy’s bad Christmas – the year daddy stayed up too late and Santa skipped his house.  So Stewart went to bed early and actually fell sound asleep.

I had sugar plum dreams of super cute pictures of the kids sitting in front of the tree on Christmas morning.  Parker in his new “baby’s first Christmas” pajams and Stewart in some cute pajamas also.  But – I forgot to put Parker’s pajamas in the dryer from the night before.  So – we let Parker sleep while we went downstairs to let Stewart open his presents.  Once Parker woke up – we put him in his toasty warm super cute pajams and put him in front of his presents – and he had no interest.  He kept crawling over to Stewart’s Millenium Falcon that was being assembeled by Daddy.  I ripped open Parker’s presents and got something out to entertain him.  He had no interest in tearing the paper off of anything – which is odd, coming from a baby that loves to sit on the floor and shred a magazine and eat small bits of the high gloss pages.

Our living room looked like an advertisement for a Star Wars/baby toy wishlist – with the Falcon, the Republic Gunship and the AT-TE Walker sitting among baby toys!  It was cute.  My personal favorite is the Nerf N-Strike Wii game my parents got for Stewart.  He really likes playing it – and secretly – so do Bill and I.  We have been playing it after Stewart has gone to bed.

Bill and I had decided to skip presents for each other so we could spend more money on the kids – Christmas really is for the kids anyway – but it looks like we might end up getting ourselves something after all.  The TV in Stewart’s playroom went out so now we have a perfectly legitimate excuse to get a new BIG tv for our bedroom.  One that is big enough that I don’t have to wear my glasses to read the channel guide from bed.  We shall see.

(Holly how old is that TV?  I think he has had a good life and was lucky enough to spend his final year in Stewart's playroom, constantly playing channel 299 (Nickelodeon.)

That TV has a funny story attached to it. I had to think back. When I moved into my very first apartment, I didn't have a big TV. So, Greg brought his. But then we broke up. For a while, I still had his TV. Until his crazy new girlfriend made him come get it (even though he had no need for it then). So, my parents had just bought that TV--but realized that it didn't have all the stereo hookups. So they gave it to me and got a new one. All this would have occurred in November 1998. It became my bedroom TV when I bought my flatscreen when I graduated college.

I'm glad it had a happy life. Smile
